Event details

This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the evolving threat landscape, focusing on how attackers are shifting their tactics to exploit less secure communication channels within organisations.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Evolving Attack Tactics:

    • Cybercriminals are increasingly initiating attacks through email and then expanding their efforts to other channels, such as Microsoft Teams. These platforms often lack the stringent regulations and security policies typically applied to email, making them more vulnerable to sophisticated attacks.
  2. Inadequate Security for Non-Email Channels:

    • A significant portion of the webinar will address the gap in security policies for channels outside of email. As businesses rely more on collaborative tools like Teams, there is a pressing need to establish and enforce security measures to protect these platforms from being exploited by attackers.
  3. Understanding the Threat Landscape:

    • Attendees will be presented with data illustrating the percentage of attacks that now target these less secure channels. This information is crucial for organisations to understand where their greatest vulnerabilities lie and which channels are most at risk.
  4. The Human Element in Cybersecurity:

    • The webinar will emphasise the importance of considering the human element in cybersecurity. Employees are often the first line of defence, and attackers frequently exploit human weaknesses, such as through phishing attempts. Understanding how human behaviour impacts security is critical in developing effective defence strategies.
  5. Solutions to Data Loss Prevention (DLP):

    • Solutions to enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) will be discussed, focusing on protecting sensitive information across all channels. These solutions are vital for minimising the risk of data breaches, especially in environments where multiple communication platforms are used.
  6. Increasing Internal Awareness and Training:

    • The importance of internal awareness and ongoing training to recognise and respond to phishing attempts will be highlighted. By educating employees and regularly updating them on the latest threats, organisations can significantly reduce the risk of successful attacks.

Conclusion:

This webinar will underscore the need for a holistic approach to cybersecurity that goes beyond traditional email security. As attackers evolve their methods, organisations must expand their focus to include all communication channels, particularly those that may not yet be fully protected. By understanding the threat landscape, addressing the human element, and implementing robust security measures, businesses can better safeguard their operations and minimise risks across the board.
